Bar weight formulas
- Round bar: area = pi * d^2 / 4.
- Square bar: area = side^2.
- Hex bar: area = 0.866 * AF^2, where AF is across flats.
- Flat bar: area = width * thickness.
Weight formula
bar weight = density * area * length
Worked example
A 25 mm steel round bar weighs 3.85 kg/m using 7.85 g/cm3 steel density.
