Rigging Center of Gravity Calculator

Known lifted load, including rigging carried by the two pick points.
lbf
Horizontal distance between the left and right pick points along the load.
ft
Horizontal distance from the left pick point to the load center of gravity. Keep it between the pick points.
ft
Loaded sling legs sharing the left pick load.
legs
Loaded sling legs sharing the right pick load.
legs
Left sling angle from horizontal. A vertical leg is 90 deg.
°
Right sling angle from horizontal. A vertical leg is 90 deg.
°
Rated working load limit per loaded sling leg on the left side for the applicable sling type and hitch.

Method notes 3 notes
  • Two-pick static reactions use R_left = W*(L - x)/L and R_right = W*x/L, where x is the COG distance from the left pick point.
  • Sling-leg tension by side uses T = R/(n x sin(theta)) after the pick load is found.
  • This is a static load-share and WLL utilization screen only. Final lifting decisions need verified weight/COG, pick geometry, sling tags/tables, hitch factors, D/d, hardware, center-of-gravity stability, dynamic effects, inspection condition and qualified rigging review.
