Pipe Fitting Takeout Calculator

Sets the B16.9 takeout dimensions for both ends.
Field dimension between the two fitting centerlines (or to the pipe end for a plain end).
mm
Fitting whose centerline defines end 1 of the measurement.
Fitting whose centerline defines end 2 of the measurement.
Welding root opening left at each butt joint (commonly ~3 mm / 1/8 in per the WPS). Not applied at plain ends.

Method notes 4 notes
  • Takeouts are ASME B16.9-2018 center-to-end dimensions (Tables 6.1-1, 6.1-7, 6.1-10); LR center-to-end tolerance is ±2 mm through NPS 24, so field-verify on tight spools.
  • 45° elbows in offsets: this page deducts the listed center-to-face B when the measurement runs to the elbow centerline. For travel/run/set geometry, use the rolling offset calculator first, then deduct here.
  • Valves, flanges and weldolets have manufacturer-specific takeouts — use the custom end for those.
  • Root gap belongs to the WPS; 3 mm (1/8 in) is common for open-root butt welds and 0 for some fit-ups with backing.
